Spanish flag Ibiza trip

May 2000 - Under Construction!

Figuretas Beach

World's biggest swimming pool

Ibiza

There are a few nice beaches in Ibiza, but beyond the sand are shallow rocks with barnacles; so they can be more suited to sunbathing than swimming. The water is incredibly clear, and quite salty.

The rocks were host to more adventurous sunbathers and a bar in the middle of nowhere.

Ibiza Town

The old town is basically a castle - it is surrounded by thick fortified walls. The port is still important to Navy ships and pleasure yachts.

Johan

Nightlife

There are one or two pubs and restaurants on the island.

Our reps were ubiquitous, and Andrew seemed to have good reason to smile ;-)

The old town has some rather nice restaurants, in a quiet setting.

One of the bars had what I consider a good reason to visit it, in the form of a 22 year old former Swedish judo champion by the name of Johan. He seemed to be enjoying his first week as bar-staff! I seem to be having a bad chin day in that piccy though :-(

Local influence

The graffiti I noticed was political in nature, e.g. "20 years of constitution; 20 years of oppression", or this anti-drugs message. Around the corner two guys were ignoring its request and shooting up.

Mediaeval market

The town was all done up at the weekend for a mediaeval market. Locals outnumbered tourists (a welcome innovation) and some people took obvious pride in their costumes.
